Summary

Product Description

The description of this very important book to the American Revolution, especially to the troops at Valley Forge, is best said by these famous words of Thomas Paine. "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the services of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the morer glorious the truimph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem to lightly; it is dearness only that gives every thing its value". Many men at Valley Forge read this and decided to fight rather than leave the service of the Revolution even tho their enlistments we up very soon. It can be said, that if Paine had not written this book - the Revolution would have been lost! American's need to know exactly what our forefathers did while suffering every thing from the weather, to lack of food, bad medical conditions and the superiority of the English military in numbers and weapons in order to establish the United States of America. It did not come easy! A Collector's Edition.
